The reproductive cycle of chickens is so interesting. As a commercial regenerative farm that sells eggs, it’s important to us to make sure our chickens are productive members of our farm. To help ensure this, every few years we cycle our chickens out with younger chickens. Depending on the age, we’ll either sell the hens we are retiring to backyard or hobby farmers or process them out for soup and stew hens. Chickens begin laying eggs around 18 weeks of age.
