On Friday we bottled our first vintage of Furmint from Red Willow Vineyard. Furmint is a fantastic Hungarian white grape variety primarily used to produce single-varietal dry white wines (as we did), and is also one of the principal grapes of Tokaji, a famous Hungarian dessert wine. In Hungary, Furmint is widely grown in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region, declared a World Heritage Site for its cultural importance as a winemaking region, with soil consisting of clay or loess soil on volcanic subsoil
