I'm not saying flaxseed oil has zero benefits, I don't believe the benefits outweigh salmon oil or ground flaxseed. Flaxseeds are an excellent source of fiber. It serves as a prebiotic and is rich in antioxidants. It's great for gut health and the immune system. People used to recommend I add it to my dog's diet for environmental allergies; but it never worked. It's probably because the plant based Omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) aren't a good fit for our dogs.
